Yes. Sealing over an oil stain will lock it in forever, which is why our deep-cleaning phase includes industrial-strength degreasers and hot-water pressure washing. While some extremely old, deep-set oil stains may leave a faint "shadow," our process removes the surface carbon and significantly improves the appearance of the stone before the sealer is applied.

This is known as "blushing" or "polymeric haze." It usually happens when a contractor applies sealer to damp stones or fails to remove excess sand dust before activation. At Sealcoat Canada, we prevent this by using SmartSand™ with Nano Polymer technology and adhering to a strict dry-weather protocol. If you already have this issue from a previous contractor, we offer specialized stripping services to "re-melt" and clear the finish.

For Ontario's climate, polymeric sand is a necessity. Regular joint sand washes away during rain and provides a perfect breeding ground for weeds and ants. Polymeric sand contains specialized binders that harden when wet, creating a flexible, "rubberized" joint that stays in place during winter freeze-thaw cycles and prevents structural shifting.

For maximum protection in the GTA, we recommend resealing every 3 to 5 years. While the "look" of a wet-look sealer might fade slightly sooner, the protective resins continue to shield the stone from salt and UV damage. Regular maintenance plans ensure your polymeric sand remains intact, preventing costly repairs or the need for a full lift-and-relay in the future.

It is typically a two-day process, weather permitting. Day 1 is for deep cleaning and weed removal. We then require the stones to be 100% dry before Day 2, when we apply the sand and sealer. We always moisture test to ensure dry levels.

Nothing is "forever" in nature, but our process is the closest you'll get. By using high-quality polymeric sand and a protective sealer, we eliminate the environment weeds need to grow. Proper maintenance (occasional rinsing) will keep it clear for years.

You can walk on the pavers about 4 hours after sealing. However, we recommend keeping vehicles off the driveway for 24 to 48 hours to ensure the polymeric sand has fully cured and the sealer has bonded.

Our sealing service includes minor joint stabilization. If you have significant "dipping" or structural shifting, we recommend a leveling repair before sealing. Ask us for a referral or an assessment!

This is a common mistake made by DIYers or inexperienced contractors where the sand residue is left on top of the stone and gets wet, leaving white stains. We use a triple-brush and blower method to ensure every grain of sand is in the joint, not on the stone, before activation.
